There’s a huge upside to using diesel fuel; more power, better fuel economy, but the major downside to using diesel fuel is its performance in the winter months. When temperatures drop, diesel fuel crystalizes and forms into a gel, clogging fuel lines and injectors. Not only does this not allow you to start the vehicle, but it can also lead to a costly mechanic bill if any serious damage occurs.

In order to properly take care of your diesel vehicle and prevent future headaches on chilly winter mornings. Therefore, using a diesel anti-gel fluid can make a huge difference in keeping your vehicle safe and gel-free. We recommend Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement, perfect for the brutal winter atmosphere.

When should you start to add anti-gel additives?
  1. When temperatures are below freezing.
  2. Rapid drops in temperature.
  3. When you add fuel (whenever filling up your tank in the winter, throw in a bottle of Diesel Fuel Supplement).
  4. When fuel begins to gel (If your fuel is already gelled or your fuel lines are clogged up we recommend using an emergency additive that dethaws fuel and de-ices filters, like Power Service Diesel 911).

Two tips for using additives and supplements:
  1. Diesel fuel is prone to freezing in colder temperatures because it contains wax. Generally, the wax is in a solid-state when diesel fuel is at a comfortable temperature. The wax is what causes diesel to freeze.
  2.  Anti-gel additives work by dropping the freezing point of diesel in order to prevent the fuel from gelling due to the lower temperatures.

It really helped when you said that using an anti-gel fluid for the diesel would keep the vehicle in good condition and prevent issues. I will suggest this to my husband now that we need a diesel fuel delivery here in Hawaii. It's for his secondhand pickup truck that he has saved up for the past months.
