It’s a constant battle to keep your diesel engine safe from harsh temperatures during the winter. The block heater is one of the many tools people can use to fight this battle.

Most block heaters heat up the coolant that flows through your motor. Even though antifreeze isn’t circulating when the engine is off, the heat from the plug transfers throughout the cooling system via this fluid and slowly creates a blanket of warmth throughout the engine block. In turn, this also keeps the engine’s oil temperature and diesel fuel from plummeting to the point of a solid, sticky mess.

Helpful Tips
  1. Generally, once it starts getting colder out is when you can start using the bock heater. Ideally, however, once temperatures begin to drop below 5 degrees.
  2. Much like when to use the engine block heater, there are many different answers as to how long you should leave the engine block heater plugged in. You don’t want to waste money, but at the same time, you want to make sure your vehicle starts in the morning. One thing that most can agree on is that the maximum amount of time you should leave the engine block heater plugged in for is four hours. Any longer and you’re just wasting electricity.
  3. Not only does the block heater making starting your car in the morning easier, but it will also keep that cab nice and warm when you're ready to get in.

Wow! I have never thought much about power up diesel additive that before. I have been trying different products for my vehicle, but nothing seemed fine until I used the Smith Lubricants products. Their products improve the efficiency and economy of the petrol and diesel.
